EA Sports has officially rolled out the first patch for College Football 26 across all platforms, showing up as version 1.004.000. While it’s exciting to see the first wave of fixes hit the field, let’s set expectations—this update focuses purely on maintenance. No new features or gameplay additions just yet, as we’re still in what EA is calling Season 0.

Unfortunately, EA hasn’t released an official changelog for this patch, which has left many players guessing. That said, we’ve been tracking the community and compiling known updates and lingering issues based on firsthand feedback.

Confirmed Fixes

  • Play Art Glitch: The frustrating bug causing incorrect or missing play art appears to have been resolved.

Still in Play (Known Issues)

  • Team Builder Dynasty Crashes: The mode continues to experience instability.

  • Random Freezes: Some players report unexpected crashes during gameplay or menus.

  • Snap Bug: A known issue where the offense can’t snap the ball in certain situations remains unresolved—EA has acknowledged it.

Gameplay Feedback: What the Devs Are Saying

The development team has been engaging with community concerns and has issued a few comments on key gameplay mechanics that are being reviewed or tuned.

🏈 Field Goal Bug (Left-Footed Kicker Issue)

EA has identified a rare bug where users can’t attempt a field goal—specifically when using a left-footed kicker and the kick was going to be blocked. A fix is planned for a future title update.

💪 Stiff Arm Effectiveness

Yes, we’ve seen the stiff arm highlights everywhere too. It’s powerful right now—maybe too powerful. The devs say they’re collecting more data before making changes. In the meantime, they’re encouraging users to counter stiff arms using the “Cut Stick” (flick right stick down) and get reps in Practice Mode.

“Hit one hundred cut sticks before bed,” they joked.

🛡️ Pass Protection System Breakdown

The offensive line logic has been updated to reflect more realistic protections based on play type. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Under Center: Uses base protection.

  • Shotgun with all routes: Sets to ‘Empty’ protection.

  • HB Check & Release: Half-slide away from HB.

  • Play Action: Half-slide away from the play fake.

In addition, players can still adjust protections manually:

  • Right Stick Left/Right: Flick once for half-slide, twice for full slide.

  • Flick Up: Un-target a defender—this can be strategic in certain play designs or to bait user defenders.

The bottom line: You’re the coordinator—use the tools EA gives you to adjust protections based on what the defense shows.

We’ll keep tracking updates as they roll in and continue testing things in our sim setups. If you find anything new after this patch or have feedback, drop us a comment or hit us up on our socials. Let’s build better football, together.
